With another three interview days behind us (two in October and the last one just recently on November 21), we are waist deep in the 2020 admissions cycle. With 90 applicants representing 43 colleges and universities invited to interview over the three days, it has been an exciting interview season here at the Tri-I. We were honored to welcome this multi-talented group of students to our campus. Beyond their considerable scientific backgrounds, research, and ambitions, they are musicians, mulitlingual (fluent in more than 20 languages all together), marathon runners, scuba divers, basketball players, dancers, and all around impressive people.
With contributions from students, faculty, and staff alike, the interview days represent a considerable group effort, though one with many rewards. Getting to know the applicants is important, just as is showing them the character (and characters) of our Program.
This year saw the return of the Female Association for Clinicians, Educators, and Scientist (FACES) pre-interview dinner for female-identifying applicants. Taking a cue from the success of this critically acclaimed event, new student group The Association of Diverse Physician-Scientists in Training (ADePT) hosted a post-interview day brunch for applicants from underrepresented backgrounds on Friday morning.
We are looking forward to the next Admissions 2020 event, Revisit Day, to be held April 24th, 2020.
