Tri-I MD-PhD Program Launches Student "Houses"

The Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Program leadership and students are excited to tell you about a new MD-PhD student-led initiative to create a "House System” with the goal of fostering mentorship and community within the MD-PhD program. Other than the annual retreat, many students felt that there were not enough opportunities to get to know MD-PhD students who are enrolled in different years. The Houses are thus introduced to address this concern.

In the House System, MD-PhD students across different classes were assigned to one of five Houses, each consisting of about thirty students. Each House will organize social activities and establish mentorship lineages between classes (think bigs and littles). The Houses will also recruit alumni or MD-PhD faculty to act as advisors. The intent is that this system will make it easier for students to find mentors and also enjoy some “informal mentorship”.

From the MD-PhD Program: We hope students will find a greater sense of cohesiveness within their House, and get to know students in other years of the Program!
