Three Tri-I alumnae/i were recently selected as 2024 HHMI Hanna Gray Fellows: Amma Asare (PhD '16, MD '18), Jimmy Castellanos (PhD '18, MD '20), and Alejandro Lopez-Cruz (PhD '18, MD '20).
"[HHMI] will invest up to $1.5 million in support for each fellow over the course of up to eight years, spanning postdoctoral training through transition to starting their independent lab as a faculty member. This support allows each fellow the freedom to pursue challenging scientific questions at the forefront of their fields."
Amma Asare completed her PhD with Dr. Elaine Fuchs at The Rockefeller University. She is currently a Gynecologic Oncology Fellow and Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Anil Sood at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Jimmmy Castellanos completed his PhD with Dr. Randy Longman at Weill Cornell Graduate School. He is currenlty an Anesthesiology Fellow at Weill Cornell Medicine and a Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Elaine Fuchs laboratory at The Rockefeller University.
Alejandro Lopez-Cruz completed his PhD with Dr. Cori Bargmann at The Rockefeller University. He is currently a Gastroenterology Fellow and Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Zachary Knight at the University of California, San Francisco.
