Tri-I staff, Drs. Catharine Boothroyd and Eileen Torres, were accompanied by current students, Joshua Lopez-Scarim and Alicia Whye at the Annual Biomedical Conference for Minoritized Scientists (ABRCMS) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This conference has been the go-to conference for historically excluded communities in STEM. In addition to hosting an exhibit booth to answer questions from those interested in the MD-PhD and summer programs, Tri-I attendees also reunited with several Gateways alumni--Daivon Brown, Brianna Francis, Jane-Frances Chia, Myla Hudson, Angela Morka, and Muhammed Shalan--to support them during their research presentations.
Congratulations to Jane-Frances Chia for winning a prize for her poster presentation titled "Small Molecule Inhibition of Ras Regulates Downstream Signaling and Cell Proliferation in NF1/RASA1 Mutant Lung Cancer Cells" on her work with Dr. Piro Lito at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Angela Morka for winning a prize for her oral presentation "Role of ZFP367 in ATF6-Induced Beta Cell Proliferation" on her work with Dr. Laura Alonso at Weill Cornell Medicine.
