New Role(s) for Ruth Gotian, EdD, MS

As has been previously announced, 2018 saw the departure of long time Administrative Director, Dr. Ruth Gotian. Though we took the news with heavy hearts, we are excited to see Ruth move on to new and exciting positions here at Weill Cornell Medicine. It will surprise no one who knows her that Ruth will be wearing many different hats for WCM.

After over two decades as Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Administrative Director, Ruth has taken new and multiple roles at Weill Cornell Medicine. Late last year she was appointed as Assistant Dean for Mentoring; Executive Director, Mentoring Academy; Chief Learning Officer in Anesthesiology; and Assistant Professor of Education in Anesthesiology.

About the new Mentoring Academy, Weill Cornell Medicine reports that "The academy will take a proactive approach to mentoring and sponsoring Weill Cornell Medicine faculty, with such activities occurring in both formal and informal settings. In her new leadership roles, Dr. Gotian will strive to create an environment in which all faculty members, at all career levels, have the opportunity to be both mentors and mentees."

The Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Program, and all of WCM, are excited to see the many innovations and initiatives that are sure to come from Ruth in all of her new roles.

And though she will no longer be in the MD-PhD office, Ruth is emphatic that she will always love to hear from all MD-PhD and Gateways alumni. So don't stop sending her your updates!
